A Journey of Beauty, Pain, and Acceptance (Sort Of) Walking into Jo Ander's office, I thought I was just signing up for a little “refresh.” What I got instead was a masterclass in pain tolerance, self-acceptance, and the eternal struggle of deciding whether to embrace my flaws or just fill them up with science. Jo has taught me: 1. Pain is temporary- Jo has the magical ability to talk me through a procedure while simultaneously making me question every life choice that led me to voluntarily get hot needled in the face. 2. Self-acceptance is important… but so are options and whenever I do decide “acceptance” is unacceptable, we have solutions. 3. There is no such thing as ‘just a little Botox’ – It starts as a ‘tiny tweak’ and before you know it, you’re analyzing forehead wrinkles in every mirror like a detective solving a crime. Overall, Jo is equal parts artist, therapist, and magician. I trust her with my face, my secrets, and my bank account (which cries a little, but honestly, worth it). 10/10, would get voluntarily stabbed again.

I’ve been Jo’s patient going on 5 years now, but from our very first visit, I felt like I was talking to a very knowledgeable girlfriend or sister. She is just delightful, and would easily comfort even the most nervous patient. She always takes the time to thoughtfully consider your needs and explain your options in a comprehensive and realistic manner, while somehow magically making her patients feel at ease and highly valued.
