These questions are a hot topic. The key points I would like you to consider is the importance of healthy skin, a skin care routine and the difference between the different types of skin care.
I would like you to consider your skin as an investment in your health. Our skin or integumentary system is the largest organ in our body acting as a barrier protecting us from the outside world, helps fight off infection, and glowing skin boosts our mental and physical health by improving confidence/self-esteem. Keeping our skin healthy requires commitment to a skin care routine, drinking 60-90 oz of water per day, eating a clean balanced diet, and routine fresh air and exercise.
Our daily skin care routine needs to include regularly washing our face/neck, wearing mineral sunscreen daily, and using products such as moisturizers and serums. Regular procedures such as facials, medical peels, IPL or photo-facials, and microneedling leave you with a healthy glowing skin. These nonsurgical treatments will bring a high level of benefits to your skin.
A thorough skin consultation is a starting block to determine the best options for you to maximize your skin goals. Here are a few key points on why I recommend medical grade skin care vs over the counter products (OTC):
-- Medical grade skin care has been researched and designed using the latest technology to reach deeper into the skin past the stratum corneum (skin top layers) for more dramatic skin improvements. OTC products stay on top of the skin due to their inability to penetrate the top skin layers.
-- Medical grade skin care formulations and active ingredients are researched to maximize their potency for greater measurable outcomes. All research studies are available from the companies JA Medical has teamed up with. OTC skin care products contain a fraction of the active ingredients as medical grade products despite listing the names on their labels.
-- Not all skin care products are created equal so the take home message is quality of your skin care results is directly related to quality of your products.
